Explanation:
I remember the last time this was asked and the text was somewhat different. In this case it would be difficult to get in the word interdisciplinary without getting too convoluted. Here "a research project, undertaken jointly by several departments.." would be easier and would express the meaning perfectly well.

fachuebergreifend means going beyond the individual subject, and the translation used normally (e.g. Werner, New English Dictionary) is interdisciplinary. This, of course, poses some problems as the term is already used previously with Grundkurse, so maybe "non subject-specific" could be used instead.
