German term or phrase: Gruppenservice
We are in the context of gastronomy.
The following sentence appears in a letter of recommendation issued by a hotel restaurant:

"Auch im Restaurant x erledigte er alle ihm aufgetragenen Tätigkeiten im Gruppenservice and auch im à la carte Bereich zur vollsten Zufriedenheit."

I would appreciate any suggestions for Gruppenservice in this context. I know what it means but my translation solutions for this term seem a little akward and are probably not exactly the parlance of gastronomy.

Thank you very much.

catering
Explanation:
I would phrase the whole thing as: Also in restaurant x, he fulfilled all of his assigned duties in catering as well as in the preparation of menu entrees in the most satisfactory manner (or to the complete satisfaction, ie, of his supervisor).

Catering is the term usually used in preparing a large dinner (usually consisting of the same main course or selection of entrees) for a whole group.

Explanation:
I might suggest that this refers to large groups of diners, all eating the same food rather than individual tables of patrons ordering from menus.
