"Heaven knows I'm no angel." Explanation: Another common phrase, which sidesteps any suggestion of being even a little bit wicked: "Heaven knows I'm not perfect." If you feel uncomfortable with omitting the "wollen" concept: "Heaven knows I've never tried to be an angel."--->>Lord knows<< could somewhat selectively replace >>Heaven knows<<depending on the speaker (religious orientation [e.g. fundamentalist Christian], dialect [Southern US etc], historical period etc.) |

God knows I do not want to be an angel. Explanation: This reminds me of Rammstein - does this happen to be from their song Engel? ;) |

. . . I don't intend to be an angel. Explanation: "Wollen" is especially difficult to construe, absent a context. "Intend" is a possibility. |

God knows, I'm not claiming to be an angel Explanation: ...may be another, perhaps intended meaning. The context is important to determine which meaning shade was intended. Good Luck Muhammad Haroon Riedinger |

Heaven knows I don't want to be an angel Explanation: It is indeed a line from a song by Rammstein called "Engel". For the complete lyrics, see http://valerie.inf.elte.hu/~acsg/music/engel.html. Cheerio, Caro |
