Clarification request(s) and response
Trudy Peters (asker): 7:40pm Jun 30, 2004: I don't think application technology works very well here. I was thinking more in terms of "in practice." ??
Trudy Peters (asker): 8:31pm Jun 30, 2004: Steffen may be right. - Further on, the following sentence appears:
"Aus dem Modellstamm der Anwendungstechnik wurden zufällig verschiedene Personen ausgewählt, die die zu den unterschiedlichen Formulierungen passenden Haarparameter aufweisen."

Applications Engineering/Application Engineering
Explanation:
That's what they call it at the bearing & engine component manufacturer I work for.

My suggestion is based of course on the assumption that Anwendungstechnik is the name of a department, which is the way it struck me when I read the sentence (due undoubtedly to my experience at this company) :-)
