German term or phrase: Schlauchtrockenturm/Eckturm
Any ideas on these two kinds of tower? I've not really got any context myself!
Julie
English translation:see below
Explanation:
Schlauchtrockenturm makes me think of the fire department. However, the only references I could find were Trockenturm =
absorption tower (chem.) - Ernst
1. drying tower - Chemie & chem. Technik
2. drying jar (lab) [gas] - also Chemie & chem. Technik
Nothing on Eckturm, except for Ecktürmchen [Bau] - corner turret - Ernst
Hope this helps a bit...

tubular drying tower / drying turret

Explanation:
Something of a riddle. The first is obviously a drying device used in chemistry for drying purposes. The tubular = Slauch aspect is very likely intended to gain surface area.
Now for the corner tower, which I found on-line and also know from architecture, no mystery about the usual translation. HOWEVER, in this context it probably refers to some modification of a drying tower, and not the turrets as on the Chateau Laurier in downtown Ottawa. In your context, Eckturm is probably a thin drying tower, or drying turret.

Nothing really new

Explanation:
The answers given above regard Schlauchtrockenturm (tubular drying tower) appear to be accurate. With regard to Eckturm, I came across this once while on internship with a coaling mine company. Eckturm was a simple "corner tower", which essentially was part of a coal handling system. Question is: does this fit into your translation project. Looking at your other questions, I am not really certain.
