A client of mine wants to know what the U.S. letter-grade equivalent would be for a German college student who received the following numerical grades:

Explanation:
I don't disagree with Gudrun at all and that's how I would unofficially "translate" the number grades into U.S. equivalent letter grades. You might want to inform your client, however, particularly if they deal with immigration or the acceptance of foreign students into U.S. college programs, that what they're asking for is a profession in and of itself known as education credential evaluation. The URL of one such service is listed below. I'm not promoting their company nor do I know what an evaluation of somebody's diplomas and transcripts looks like in the end, but if the client will be dealing with these kinds of issues on an ongoing basis, it is something that they should know about. That a client sends certs. off to be evaluated doesn't change the need to have them translated, either, so it's not like giving work away.
