German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Paper / Paper Manufacturing
German term or phrase: Stulpschachtel
Description of the packaging used to contain a diary/notebook (paper notebook, that is!)
arum
Local time: 05:59
English translation:cardboard box
Explanation:
I don't agree with the tea website that's been given...this is definitely not a Stülpschachtel. Stülpschachteln have a bottom part and a lid, fullstop.

It's a diary in a cardboard box what else do you want to call it? Unlike a shoe box of course, the German "Stülp" implies that the lid is somewhat larger than a regualr lid...

Sorry, but I don't seem to be able to copy the web reference into the box below....

Laut der unten angebenen Beschreibung kann gibt es Stülpschachteln und Stülpkartons...

Perhaps in English we would even say: Diary in cardboard gift box given your context and forget about the lid idea altogether...

neutral  Susanna Miles: or telescoping box = sleeve with bottom or top (husband owns a sheet plant); given the context maybe they just mean a "tray"
