Wenn man sagt "Er ist eine Bank", dann meint man damit in der Regel, dass derjenige zuverlässig für kontinuierliche Erfolge sorgt bzw. dass man sich darauf verlassen kann, dass er immer wieder Erfolge bringt.

Man hört diese Redewendung relativ häufig im Zusammenhang mit Sportlern, die über einen längeren Zeitraum konstant gute Leistungen bringen (sagt man z.B. im Fußball "... und hinten in der Abwehr, da ist der Spieler XY eine echte Bank", dann meint man damit, dass der betreffende Spieler zuverlässig und konstant gute Leistungen zeigt).

Auch könnte man etwa über einen Schüler, der in Deutsch immer schlecht, in Mathe aber durchgängig gut war, sagen "In Deutsch konnte er nie etwas reißen, aber in Mathe-Arbeiten, da war er eine Bank".
