German to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Petroleum Eng/Sci | | German term or phrase: Entspannung | | this is for a PP presentation about fuel price scenarios. The chart shows oil prices in euros/bbl on the right, sanitizing numbers on the left, and how these are mapped based on various scenarios- such as "oil crisis," "fuel crisis," or "coal crisis." Another one of these is "Entspannung." I am not sure what the right term for this would be. Any ideas? |

| | English translation:easing | Explanation: I presume they simply mean a less tight supply situation, and the news outlets seem to prefer "ease/easing" To wit, Reuters:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oil prices eased Thursday as comments from the U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman stirred concerns about the health of the top economy and dragged prices further away from the $100 milestone.
Or today's Wall Str. Journal:
Early signs of an easing in global demand growth and swings by Wall Street traders are pushing oil away from the historic $100-a-barrel mark, at least for now. |

6 hrs confidence: relaxation/easing of tensions
Explanation: Ich vermute, daß in den Szenarien eher kurz- oder mittelfristige Entwicklungen behandelt werden. Dafür wäre "détente" m.E. nicht passend, da es eher eine mittel- bis langfristige Tendenz benennt.
