Tech/Engineering - Petroleum Eng/Sci / Pipelinebau | | German term or phrase: Fasing | This word appears in a German text, and I assume the author has merely used the English expression, but I can't find and relevant hits for fasing on the Internet. The text is about the construction of a pipeline. Here is the context:
"Hier findet das Fasing statt“, erklärt ... und deutet auf ein Gebilde aus Stahl und Schläuchen, das an einem Kran hängt. Die Fasing-Maschine. Sie wird von einem Arbeiter auf das Ende eines Rohrs gesetzt. Die Maschine läuft an. Das funktioniert wie bei einer Drehbank – nur umgekehrt. Hier dreht sich das Werkzeug um das Werkstück. Als die Maschine wieder abgenommen wird, hat das Rohrende ein tulpenförmiges Profil, eine „Fase“. Sie ist nötig für das hier eingesetzte maschinelle Schweißverfahren: Ein gerader Rohrabschluss könnte von den Schweißautomaten nicht verschweißt werden."
