"Kinder gehen tausend Wege. Unsere Wege verlaufen entlang den Gleisen ihrer Entwicklung, immer bei ihrem Sein als Menschen"

Der letzte Teil "immer bei ihrem Sein als Menschen" erscheint mir sogar im Deutschen etwas seltsam. Wie wäre das denn am Besten im Englischen auszudrücken?
