Danke an alle.
Im Zusammenhang mit biologischem Rassisimus im 19. Jahrhundert passt genetic inheritance sehr gut und scheint auch in der Diskussion verwendet worden zu sein.

agree Kcda: Excellent! It seems so simple to answer but it actually isn't the case at all IMO. The word "traits" brings the required/crucial meaning to the Eng. term. By the way where is the main meal and dessert? - I am just kidding :)

Genome

Explanation:

Here are definitions of what a genome is and I believe this is what is meant -- given it is a paper about biology:

Definitions of Genome on the Web:

* The complete package of genetic material for a living thing, organized in chromosomes. A copy of the genome is found in most cells.
ehrweb.aaas.org/ehr/books/glossary.html

* All of the genetic information or hereditary material possessed by an organism; the entire genetic complement of an organism.

* All the DNA contained in an organism or a cell, which includes both the chromosomes within the nucleus and the DNA in mitochondria.

* the complete set of genetic information contained in the DNA of an organism.
