From a company's set of guidelines for the use of a new Corporate Design package (logo etc.).
I've found "image space" as a translation for Bildraum in several sources, but am not convinced that it is correct in this context. It seems (from a quick Google) to be quite a technical concept. Perhaps someone with knowledge of the field can suggest a more appropriate alternative or confirm if "image space" is correct after all. Thanks! |

Explanation: In the graphic and webdesign field (like in your text), "bildraum" refers to a standard background design (with a particular colour, shape, texture, perhaps also integrated logo...) in which you integrate any additional information (images or text).
This "image space" is always present on any advertising product of the company (website, flyer...) and people memorize it easily.
This is different than just adding the logo on the top of your flyer: here the hole flyer or website is a corporate image space.
For example, Mediamarkt's image space is this standard red-black gradient background with a particular shading. The elements are "placed on" the image space.
Take a look at Mediamarkt's homepage:
http://www.mediamarkt.com/
All product photos are "freigestellt" (background elements are deleted, the product has therefore a transparent background) and the product photos are placed on this standard Mediamarkt background design (image space).
I hope this helps you...
