I like Rachel's suggestion especially about trying to introduce something of German culture into the translation. I appreciate all of your comments related to the "Kaffeetrinken"! Especially for a US audience, this might be hard to get across, since most of us don't have an afternoon snack (alternatively, we eat all the time. Just kidding). So it seems maybe like saying "our afternoon coffee" might work, to suggest that it's a ritual. This doesn't mean that coffee is mentioned anywhere else in the text, though. |
