object "which bears witness to the life-nexus

Explanation:
I think "Lebenszusammenhang" is a technical term here. Droysens is probably using it in William Dilthey's sense (Dilthey coined the phrase) - both men are roughly contemporary and both advocated a hermeneutical approach to history. However, I don't know enough about their work to be 100% certain that Droysen is using "Lebenszusammenhang" in Dilsey's sense here (though it seems likely). The standard English translation for Dilthey's "Lebenszusammenhang" is "life-nexus".

sorry, misinterpreted the question ;-)

Für "Lebenszusammenhang" würde ich hier "environment" nehmen.

Gruss, Sabine

aber Donal hat natürlich Recht ... da hab' ich nicht aufgepaßt ... das passiert, wenn man drei Sachen gleichzeitig machen will ;-) also ignoriert meinen Beitrag am besten einfach.

Schönes Wochenende,
