German to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature / Hermann Hesse | | German term or phrase: gebrochene Augen | Der Wolf by Hermann Hesse
This is meant as a gift for a dear friend. The English translation is available on Google. I changed a little bit here and there, but it's the last part of the last sentence I'm at issue with. The English translation reads: ...and on the blurred eyes of the dead wolf.
Gebrochene Augen = blurred eyes?? Every time I read it, the 'blurred' hits me in the face. A drunk might have blurred eyes, but Hesse is talking so poetically about 'gebrochene Augen', and there's a completely different feel to it! Does anybody have an idea how to
get it right? It's very important to me. No refs needed.
Thank you so much! |
