from the poem "Weltraumspaziergang an der goldenen Nebelschnur von Hieronymous Bosch"

Erscheint mir alles gletscherkalt hier
wie die Kastanien fallen rollen
Aber gestern Wir spielten Babyboule
unter den Herbstbäumen
spielten Supernova

I am thinking it is a baby version of French boules...?

Explanation:
Your idea sounds right to me; given the previous reference to chestnuts, they probably played an improvised game of boule using chestnuts instead of real balls.

Is the poem a translation or written by a non-German? The word order seems a bit unnatural, and in particular \'Aber Gestern Wir spielten...\' is a very strange construction, and there doesn\'t seem to be any particular reason to use it for meter, syntax or whatever.

mini bowls


Explanation:
I think that might do it (or "mini pétanque"). I know there is also "carpet bowls", which I played as a kid, but that is an indoor version of lawn bowls.

I think we should remember poetic licence is permitted here - inluding the coining of words.

I googled "mini bowls" - not a wonderful result (sse below).
