"Der Seitenraster

Gestaltungsraster sind ein wesentliches Ordnungsmittel innerhalb der Gestaltungsrichtlinien.
Der Seitenraster lässt vielfältige Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten zu. Er dient als Richtlinie sowohl für die Bestimmung von Bild-größen als auch für den Stand von Texten und Abbildungen.
Bilder, Grafiken und Texte sollten jeweils auf das volle Rastermaß gesetzt werden, können aber auch in alle Richtungen auf dem halben Raster plaziert werden."

From a manual about a company's corporate logo, fonts, colours and so forth. I can't find a translation for "Seitenraster" anywhere, but am wondering if it means "page layout". And does Raster have the same meaning elsewhere in this paragraph, or different ones? TIA for your assistance, and Easter greetings to all.

A note concerning the other "rasters": If you open a copy of The Economist, you'll see it has a two-column grid for the leaders and a three-column grid for the rest. Halber Raster means a picture can be half a column wide, or one and a half or two and a half.

Explanation:
Pages are laid out on a grid which consists of a margin on 4 sides, a number of vertical columns, and space in between columns.

When they mention "Rastermaß", they are talking about the width of columns. There is no such thing as "halbes Raster" in this particular context - it should read "halbe Spalte" (narrow columns, half the column width).
