German term or phrase:angemessen voraussetzen

the objectives which are still to be achieved must, at the same time, be (deemed) adequately postulated.
without the "als" as in "als angemessen" -- the "angemessen" seems an adverb describing how (in this case "adequately/appropriately) something should be assumed/postulated. Not very sensible.
one way to see it would be:
deem (something) reasonably attainable (achievable)

I don't know what the "zu Erreichende" is/means - there are several possibilities (that which can or must be attained, achieved..)
My answer is really conditional.
More context would help find the best-fitting English equivalent.

But the angemessen here simply implies adequately postulated/assumed/expectable? or even - "must be adequately deemed" - which doesn't make much sense.

Sorry---when you've seen a sentence within context, you don't always see how it may not be as clear without.
This part of the text is about the paradoxical situation that self-awareness is necessary to the work done within therapy, but at the same time often is not present at the start of it, and does not come into being until the end, i.e. as a result of the therapy process. Self-awareness is the "das zu Erreichende" in the sentence, which must be both worked towards and, in that process, "angemessen vorausgesetzt werden können".
