German to English translations [PRO] Medical - Psychology / coping with depression
German term or phrase:Beschäftigung mit den Gruppenunterlagen
This is from a list of positive coping strategies for depression. It makes absolutely no sense to me. (For one thing, there is no reference to any groups or any "documents" anywhere in this article; it is about research questionnaires on individuals' coping strategies.)
Other things in the list are:

adjustment of medication

therapy

I suspect that we're talking about literature here, not "documents" per se, which could be confused with (confidential) files.
"Unterlagen" often refers to literature published by a group -- i.e., books, pamphlets and brochures to help you cope with a depression.
You could also write "delving into (the) group literature."
or "working with (the) group literature"
Here's an example from a Munich-based self-help group for stutterers:
"Üben werden wir nach dem Van Riper Konzept von Hartmut Zückner, einem Therapeuten aus Aachen. Wir haben Unterlagen zu dieser Therapie, worin auch gute Anleitungen zum Üben enthalten sind. "self-help literature" gets a thousands of Ghits.
But, as I indicated earlier, I'd strongly recommend checking with the client.

Yes, I had the same idea myself. Certainly I have been known to insert strange things by mistake. I have sent the translation in with a query, and will see what the editor has to say.
Yes, it does have that quality, doesn't it? People occasionally make mistakes when copying and pasting! It will be interesting to hear what the client has to say.
halte auch ich A. Winzers Idee für denkbar. Auch möglich ist allerdings, das die 4 Worte versehentlich in das Dokument kopiert wurden und garnicht hineingehören. Es könnte nämlich auch eine Arbeitsnotitz des Therapeuten sein, was er zu bestimmten Zeiten mit der Therapiegruppe vorhat, oder wie er sie verwalten will.
I was also thinking along those lines: by keeping oneself occupied/busy with the therapy guidelines/suggestions/records/one's own therapy history...one gets the feeling of doing something positive. But one can't be sure what these "Unterlagen" really are (but maybe an expert will know).

Vielleicht ist das jetzt weit hergeholt, aber könnte es ich dabei u.U um Unterlagen einer Therapie- oder Selbsthilfegruppe handeln, die dem Betroffenen bei der Bewältigung seiner Situation helfen (Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe quasi). Ist aber nur ein "wild guess"! Würde auch eher nachfragen.
