That's a good question, Bernhard. "Anspruchsvoll" is not a particular finding of the report. The research showed "dass Frauen mit einer Bulimie in Vergleich zu gesunden ein stärker emotionsorientierten Copingverhalten aufweisen. Bezüglich des problem- und vermeidungsorientierten Stressbewältigungsverhaltens ergaben sich keine Unterschiede zwischen den Gruppen." (The "groups" are subjects and controls.) The examples in my queried passage -- flight (or "escape") and avoidance --are both actually avoidance strategies. The problem-oriented strategies are the most healthy (find a solution to the problem posed in the role-playing), but they are not the ones usually adopted. What is usually adopted by the patients, but not the controls, is some kind of emotional "dysregulation" (e.g., symptoms of bulimia).

I don't quite get the "anspruchsvoll" unless it is strictly a finding of the report. What are they saying? That the test persons are sort of forced into a problem-oriented approach to finding a solution (through role-playing) but that this approach is challenging nevertheless? In other words, no easy solutions, only healthy ones? It couldn't be "ansprechend" (appealing)? Just wondering.
