I believe "classic" as in traditional/normal, or in this case, maybe "completed" or "absolved". I suggested "substantial" and still think it could apply in the sense of being sufficient for what ever goals the person has/had. Perhaps "standard education" would be the best bet?

Still, what the author seems to be referring to is the fact that the amount of knowledge (contents and quantity) makes it possible for the person to work even abroad.

To me the phrase "klassische Wissensinhalte" doesn't imply anything about quantity - I would say it is more about type than amount.

Can you expand on "classic"? Is it referring to Shakespeare? Latin, Hebrew, Greek? or simply the basics? traditional? substantial? common? general? It would help.
