In the US, a couselor - with one "l" - is a sort of social worker, often schooled in psychology, but not a psychologist, is a supporter/advisor for those recovering from addiction. A counselor is assigned to the patient to assist in reintegration/rehabilitation, as well as having an open ear. A counselor enhances therapeutic sessions by being much more accessible to the patient than the therapist. |
