crucifix inscription

Explanation:
Crucifix Inscription
Above Christ's head on the cross is the Latin inscription "IHS NAZARE REX IUDEORU" (often abbreviated as "INRI"), meaning "JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS." (John 19: 19)

agree  Camilla Seifert: I prefer cross. John says [in the NIV]: "Pilate has a notice prepared and fastened to the cross." A crucifix is the symbol used within the [predominately Catholic] Christian Church, a cross with the Body of Christ.

agree  Armorel Young: agree with Camilla - a crucifix is a model or image of a cross; the reference here is to the actual cross of Christ.
