German to English translations [Non-PRO]
Social Sciences - Religion
German term or phrase: vgl
Hello, I am translating part of a book for an assignment. "vgl" is used a lot in the footnotes. I know that it literally means compare and has the equivalent "cf" in English, but "cf" can be mitakenly used as "see". In the German I think the vgl is also see. Do the German use vgl for see. As in "see section..... of Act".
Thanks
FionnaL

Explanation:
moderately acceptable English version of cf.
Otherwise, cf. really is the correct translation.
