declared righteous before God

Explanation:
Just to suggest a variation - I took the same reference as Armorel - Gal. 2 v.16 but from a literal, direct translation Greek-English (New World-translation).
"knowing as we do that a man is declared reighteous, not due to works of law, but but only through faith toward Christ Jesus, even we have put our faith in Christ Jesus, that we may be decared righteous due to faith toward Christ, ..., because due to works of law no flesh will be declared righteous.

Example sentence(s):
  • This does not serve to be declared righteous before God, ...

neutral  Colin Rowe: Perfect for the second part of the source sentence, but not the first part

neutral  AllegroTrans: you have changed it from a noun to a verb, quite without any need to do so

plea of exoneration before God

Explanation:
'Rechtfertigung' here basically means 'making excuses for oneself'.
