German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Retail

This company sells own-label clothing products directly through its own stores and also wholesale to major accounts and franchisees. The wholesale channel of distribution also covers "Depotflächen-Vertrieb" - this term comes up twice in the text, and it's got me floored (which may or may not be a pun). Any suggestions, please?

Seems the most likely solution in view of the product - own-label clothing

Hi Sue

We can't see your second context, of course, but the one given here does not suggest to me that DFV is part of wholesale:
"Im Zuge der Ausweitung (1) eigener Verkaufsflächen im Retail-Segment, (2) des Depotflächen-Vertriebs und (3) der Revenue-Sharing-Modelle im Wholesale-Segment."
The big idea behind a factory shop is to make it look like a warehouse so that the customer is convinced he or she MUST be getting a good deal because it's a no-frills service.

Perhaps we need to see the second occurrence, though.

Notes to answerer
Asker: My apologies for the long silence, but for a while I couldn't see your comments or mine (tho' I'm assured they were visible to others) and then there was the scramble to meet the deadline for the piece itself. You're right that the first mention does not necessarily place Depotflächenvertrieb squarely in the wholsesale segment. For the record, I'll post the whole paragraph in which the second mention comes. If you have any further thoughts, I'll be grateful to hear them.
