Tech/Engineering - SAP
German term or phrase: Im Produktivbetrieb einer Geschäftsapplikation
KONTEXT: "Im Produktivbetrieb einer Geschäftsapplikation fallen in der Regel große Datenmengen in der Datenbank an."

I generally prefer to translate "Produktivbetrieb" as "live operation" or I paraphrase it, depending on the context. So, my question here relates to whether it's okay to say something like, "When you run a live business application" or "When you run a business application live" for "Im Produktivbetrieb einer Geschäftsapplikation" (need to use active voice here). I'm not really keen on using "operation" or "operate" here because essentially (as far as I understand), "*betrieb" here ultimately means "run", even though I'm aware that "Betrieb" means "operation". I found a similar source from an SAP context already but I don't like the translation - seems too literal and I think it might be wrong. Anyway, hope my query makes sense! :-)
