This is from a German MD who has to deal with this daily: Pflegestufe (1, 2, 3) refers to the level of nursing care a NON-HOSPITALIZED patient needs - i.e. at home as well as in a nursing home. Pflegegeld is the allowance (set by the State) the nursing care provider (either an agency or the family member)gets for the pt. in question.
HOSPITALIZED pts. are ranked according to the socalled ASA ratings - which has nothing to do with Pflegestufe.
