German term or phrase: transfizieren
I am translating a document dealing with "the expression of antibody C-DNA" and have run into a verb that I have never seen before - "transfizieren"

is it possible that the author means "transfixieren = transfix"?

"Wie durch Southern-Hybridisierung gezeigt werden konnte, werden gleichzeitig transfizierte (kotransfizierte) Plasmide meist an der gleichen Stelle des Wirtgenoms integriert (kointegriert). Anschließend können die Genprodukte beider Plasmide exprimiert werden (koexpression)."

Many thanks for your assistance,
