German term or phrase:Help with a Humbolt quote
I am translating a brochure for a German Universtiy, and need help with a translation for this quote: "Überhaupt lässt sich die Wissenschaft als Wissenschaft nicht wahrhaft vortragen, ohne sie jedesmal wieder selbstthätig aufzufassen, und es wäre unbegreiflich, wenn man nicht hier, sogar oft, auf Entdeckungen stoßen sollte." Generally in such situations, when 10 minutes or so of research yields no "official" result, I will take the liberty to translate a German author's quote, because any English rendering found later will just be a translation as well - with a low risk of copyright infringement.
Yes, I realized as soon as I clicked the send button that I had left out the d in Humboldt. Sorry. I feel that breaking down quote would make very little sense. My hope was that someone may have a source for Humboldt quotes. Thank you anyway for your "support".
