German term or phrase:Langauge
I don't have any pictures or anything for this, it's just something into which hooks are hooked in a lifeboat davit suspension system. Lang-auge, some sort of eye or shackle into which the hook hooks .... the word doesn't even seem to exist in this meaning ... at least I can find no reference. Any idea? This only comes 4 times in a 6k word text, in sentences such as:
"Bei Zugbelastung über ein eingehängtes Langauge hätte sich der Haken um die Lagerachse gedreht."
Nothing more revealing ...
Thanks very much in advance. Need to deliver first thing on Monday.
Explanation: I'm more or less guessing here, but the first thing that came to mind was a kind of shackle or hooking mechanism. So I checked a boat hardware supplier online and found what they're calling a "bow eye". Maybe a "shackle" will also do. See if this list of hardware strikes a chord with you....
