German to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / corporate responsibility
German term or phrase:schönfärberisch
From a report in connection with a survey of corporate social responsibility:
Diese Episoden führen genau in das Zentrum der Frage nach der gesellschaftlichen Verantwortung von Wirtschaftseliten. Doch was bleibt jenseits platter Diffamierung und **schönfärberischer** Phrasen?
The meaning is clear and I know there's an exact equivalent in English - I just can't think of it! There's e.g. "glossy cliches", but that's not quite it.
Thanks to every single one of you for taking the time to post a suggestion. An embarrassment of riches indeed. I'm a big believer in awarding the points to truly the "most helpful" answer, i.e. not necessarily the one I chose. But in this case, CMJ's "euphemistic" was the word I was looking for but had been unable to prise from the deepest, darkest depths of my excuse for a memory.
