In terms of the tasks which a trainee pscyhologist is undertaking, I have to translate the term "Sozialberatung". Is there a standard translation of this term?

Asker: Four Kudoz points. I have gone for this after deciding the other answers were too specific to other jobs, eg social workers and trained counsellors. I think this is the best approximation in an area where there is maybe no precise equivalent in BE.

Explanation:
I would use only counseling because it is logical that the psych trainee is not engaging in, say, financial counseling.... Social counseling sounds somewhat awkward

Kranksein betrifft das gesamte Lebensumfeld eines Menschen. Zwischen der sozialen Lebenssituation der Menschen und ihren Krankheitsformen bestehen vielfältige Wechselwirkungen. Der Sozialdienst berät Sie und Ihre Angehörigen in schwierigen Lebenslagen.



Wir bieten Einzelgespräche mit folgenden Beratungsschwerpunkten:

Bei sozialrechtlichen Fragen (z.B. Krankenkasse, Versorgungsamt, Grundsicherung, Hartz IV).
Bei Fragen zur Hilfsmittelversorgung.
Informationen zum Pflegeversicherungs und Schwer­behindertenrecht.
Unterstützung bei der Vorbereitung der Entlassung, sofern Sie Ihre Entlassung nicht aus eigener Kraft planen und organisieren können.
Informationen und bei Bedarf Kontaktaufnahme zu ambulanten Beratungsdiensten.
Beratung bei persönlichen und familiären Lebenskrisen und Belastungssituationen.
Angehörigengespräche.


Die psychologische Beratung
Nach dem heutigen Erkenntnisstand beeinflussen sich körperliches und seelisches Befinden wechselseitig. Erkrankungen äußern sich auf physischer und psychischer Ebene. Im Rahmen der Psychologischen Beratung in der AOK-KLINIK Bad Ems werden psy­chische Erkrankungen und Belastungen, beispielsweise Ängste, Depressionen, Anpassungsstörungen, Erschöpfungszustände, zwischenmenschliche Konflikte behandelt.



Sie werden dabei unterstützt, mit Ihrer Erkrankung umzugehen, sie vor dem Hintergrund Ihrer eigenen Lebensgeschichte zu verstehen und zu bewältigen.



Im Rahmen der in der Regel dreiwöchigen Aufenthaltsdauer ist nur eine Kurzzeitbehandlung möglich. Sie werden zu ggfls. notwendigen weiteren Behandlungsmöglichkeiten im Anschluss an Ihren Klinikaufenthalt informiert und beraten.



Neben Einzelgesprächen werden Vorträge zu verschiedenen Themen angeboten (siehe Gruppenangebote).

neutral  Anne-Marie Grant: in BE 'social services' refers to the services provided by local authority social workers.// I think a social worker, not a psychologist, would offer this service though.
