Die Öffnungen sind mit Inox-Gittern abgedeckt, die Verletzungen durch herunterfallende Steine effektiv verhindern.

Description of a climbing helmet. Inox is a type of metal but I'm not sure what is implied by Gittern in a helmet-context. Many thanks.
