German term or phrase: Vorsteckduebel
There isn't very much context. The word comes up in a report on tests carried out on metal anchors/fasteners(various types - sleeve anchor, anchor bolt, hammerset anchor etc.). The sentence is: "Vorsteckdübel, wie z.B. Einschlaganker, wurden im Beton oberflächenbündig montiert. Die Zugkraft wurde über eine Schraube eingeleitet."
AFAIK, Einschlaganker are hammerset anchors, but I can't figure out what to say for Vorsteckdübel.

I liked tuanis' suggestion as well, but decided not to risk it; ) I still think there must be some term for Vorsteckdübel in particular since this text in any case was only about concrete/masonry anchors, and Vorsteck was used to differentiate hammerset anchors from the others. Anyhow, I glossed over it in the translation.

Pre-insertable anchors

Explanation:

The sentence says "Vorsteckdübel, wie z.B. (zum Beispiel) Einschlaganker…."
Which translates as "Vorsteckdübel, such as, for example, hammerset anchors..." implying that the hammerset anchors are a type (subset of) Vorsteckdübel.

Literally a Dübel is a dowel - a piece of material that is inserted or forced into (steck from reinstecken -plug in) wood or concrete to act as an anchor for the actual fastener i.e.. screw or bolt (in this case screw "Schraube")

Obviously the dowel or anchor is inserted (reingesteckt ) before (Vor ) the screw is inserted.

So here is where we go from analysis to creation: Let's make up a term and call it: Pre- insertable anchors such as hammerset anchors.
