Although it certainly is a little long for this forum (I just happen to like translating Sütterlin, the old German typeface) you can find my ungarbled version with a translation below: ... Jahre 1878 die erste Nationalbank ihre Zahlungen einstellte un den Sturz der Maxim Bank verursachte. Es dauerte eine Reihe von Jahren, ehe sich Kansas City von diesen wuchtigen Schlägen soweit erholt hatte, daß neues Leben aus den Ruinen blühte. An Stelle der veralteten Pferdebahnen traten Kabel und eletrische Straßenbahnen; gigantische Fabriken wurden angelegt, die der herbeiströmenden Arbeiterschar lohnende Beschäftigung boten; die Einwohnerzahl vermehrte sich zusehends, denn die natürlichen Hilfsquellen ... ... year 1878 First National Bank stopped payments and caused the fall of the Maxim Bank.
