addendum Explanation: Sorry, seems I didn't write out the entire word - it should of course be wire penetrameter with an r at the end. Since you already have the term penetrameter in the parenthetical remark, I'd suggest using a phrase like "penetrameters, wire and other types" or s.th. like that.
