German term or phrase: Unterfahrt
general context: Swiss elevator system spec, details relating to the hoistway fittings

specific context: 'Infolge der grossen Unterfahrt von 6 Meter bei den Aufzügen 1.3 & 1.4, sollen permanente Podeste in den Schachtgruben gebaut werden...'

I've found Unterfahrt used several times on the net in the context of hoistway pits, as well as a few other contexts where it seems to be some kind of underground passageway. Would it possible be 'headroom' in this context?

English translation:underclearing or underpinning
Explanation:
"headroom" refers to a construction heigt, usually referring to the space between a free movement of your head and an obstacle on top, whereas the term "Unterfahrt" in your context probably refers to a space of 6 meters down into the earth.
