Verkleidung= depends on what the Verkleidung is for Explanation: Verkleidung (innen)= lining;coating Verkleidung= cladding, enclosure, paneling "Schutze"- as such I have never heard of, 'Schutz'= again, depends on what its for- general: protection, (ketten,riemen)-guard (frequenz,isolation)- protection, safeguard (strahlung)-shield |

"protective devices and covers" Explanation: There is probably no way you can know exactly what sort of gizmos are meant here so keeping it general is probably safer, perhaps something like: "protective devices and covers" Although Ernst also shows "protection devices", I would use "protective" because "protection" is only a noun and not an adjective according to NODE. Some other possibilities from Ernst for "Verkleidung": coverings, shells, jackets and cowling "Housing" sounds somewhat too stable and solid to for "Verkleidung" - HTH - Dan |
