Tech/Engineering - Medical: Dentistry / Brush Bristles
German term or phrase: in sich verdrillt
"Gleichzeitig sind die Borsten in sich verdrillt, so dass sie sich beim Auftragen praktisch von selbst in Form halten."

This is talking about dental porcelain brushes, and comes in the very next sentence after the one I quoted for "qualitativ überzeugend".

I'm having a bit of trouble unravelling the precise meaning of "in sich verdrillt". I know it means something like the bristles are twisted, but inside each other??? Doesn't seem quite right. TIA for your help.
