nominal pressure Explanation: I believe that this is a typo and that "DN 100" should really be "ND 100". Richard Ernst's Wörterbuch der industriellen Technik states: ND (Rohrleitung) = Nenndruck; Nenndruck m / nominal pressure. And in your context, this would make perfect sense. Cheers, Hans-Jakob |

nominal diameter Explanation: I found this awhile ago in a piping translation, but I did not note the source. ND 100 = nominal diameter of 100 mm |

DN Explanation: DN = Diamter nominal for piping If you look for the combination DN + pipe you'll find a whole host of cases where this term is used. Reference: http://www.uponor.de/engl/EHATEA.HTM Reference: http://www.uponor.de/germ/germfr.htm |

DN = Nennweite Explanation: DN is an abbreviation used for 'Nennweite' in the DIN standards and in technical specifications usually making reference to the 'nominal size' or 'nominal diameter' of piping or fittings. You can find references to Nennweite under WWW.DIN.DE |

Why ND Explanation: I forgot to add my two cents regarding the usage of ND. I can only assume that the other translator knew that abbreviation stands for 'nominal diameter' and thus decided to coin his/her own English abbreviation for it. As far as I am aware, the abbreviation is international considering I have seen it used in English specifications before. |

nominal diameter Explanation: I'm terribly sorry about my earlier mistake. I did not see the word "Rohrnennweite" which of course already means "nominal pipe diameter". Regards, H-J |
