Tech/Engineering / IT; Data Exchange Software

From this text I'm doing (now revising) about data exchange software.

I'm not totally sure about how to translate "Sprünge" in this context. At the moment I'm saying "discontinuities". Or would something like "gaps" be OK? TIA for your help.

In the animation, you saw that there were two disadvantages to using an array to implement an ordered list. First, you saw that the elements in the list must be kept in sequence, that is, there must not be gaps in the list. If gaps are allowed, the computer will not be able to determine which items are part of the list and which items are not.

ChildAt() returns the view at index in the list of the BView's children, or NULL if the BView has no such child. Indices begin at 0 and there are no gaps in the list.

Deleting pictures from the picture lists can have an unintended effect on item pictures being displayed. When you delete pictures, the remaining pictures in the list are shifted to remove gaps in the list. The remaining pictures get a different index value. This means items that use these indexes get new images
