German term or phrase: getaktetes
Im fehlerfreien Betrieb liefert das Gerät ein getaktetes optisches und akustisches Funktionskontrollsignal.
The 'Gerät' is a gas detection monitor. Ernst gives something like 'supplied with clock pulses' for 'getaktetes' but this means nothing to me. Can anyone explain this or provide anything better?

English translation:regular OR periodic
Explanation:
In your context, "regular" or "periodic" is best -- the implication is that this signal is no longer provided if an error occurs. "Clocked" would not be normally used here in English.

pulsating

Explanation:
I think "pulsating" serves the purpose here and is more immediately understandable than "clocked."
