link variable Explanation: I think "link variable" is the probably the best, since the word also appears in at the beginning of the line. Do not translate the "Koppelmerker" at the beginning of the lines (unless you have been asked to), because these look like they are the names of the variables. If you translate the variables, then the program will not work. The only place you should translate is after the "//" which is the sign in this programming language for a "remark". cross/coupling marker Explanation: According to Schulze, Koppelglied - coupling/switching element Koppelpunkt - crosspoint Koppelrechner - coupled computer Siemens has Koppelelement as "coupling element" and Cornelsen also has "interconnect for "koppeln". Hope this helps Reference: http://find.siemens.com/cgi-bin/query?mss=lila&pg=q&i=intern... Reference: http://w3.siemens.de/solutionprovider/_online_lexikon/index.... |

K-Flag / couple-marker Explanation: Looks like STEP 5 programming language for SIEMENS PLC/SPS. Reference: http://www.trs-fieldbus.com/Support/Download/Docs/PLCs/TRS-V... www.google.com under 'Koppelmerker', 'k-Flag' and 'couple-marker' |

comment Explanation: functionally, it's a flag, and the 'coupling' part is redundant in English (since that's what a flag is for). 'K-flag' and 'couple-marker' are both somewhat literal translations, but if this is indeed a program written in a Siemens language, 'k-flag' is just nerdy enough to fit. I wouldn't use 'couple-marker', though. |

flag, communication flag, K-flag Explanation: It serves to facilitate communication, that is data transfer between devices. On the PDF file below note sections 2.3 - flag (Marker, page 11 and 2.6 - K-flag (Koppelmarker) Reference: http://www.trs-fieldbus.com/Support/Download/Docs/PLCs/TRS-V... |

communication flag Explanation: or 'inter-processor communication flag' I'm not an expert, but this is from the Siemens FWB industrielle Elektrotechnik on the basis that someone further up (sorry, I'm on the wrong page now so can't give credit where it's due!) said it was for Siemens SPS/PLC. This is corroborated by a specific customer glossary provided to me. HTH FWB Industrielle Elekrotechnik Customer glossary |
