Tech/Engineering
German term or phrase: BDF (tech. term.)
The context is adhesive films for creating structural bonds/joints. BDF testing is mentioned, also BDF adhesive strength. The strength measured in the first test is given in kg. What does BDF stand for?

Some of my thoughts on this: BDF could stand for Biegedauerfestigkeit = flexural fatigue strength, although that should not be measured in kg. BDF could also stand for a test measuring something like the Biegedehnungsfestigkeit (bending elongation strength), although I don't think this exists. Taking in consideration that the document deals with structural bonding, possibly used in the construction industry, BDF could stand for the Bundesverband Deutscher Fertigbau = German Federal Association of Prefabricated [Buildings]. Or F could also stand for an industry other than Fertigbau; nevertheless, the testing could thus be specific to an industrial field/branch.

Explanation:
This is just a guess, but the abbreviation BDF is the also standard short form for Beiersdorf AG, the big German adhesive coatings and cosmetics manufacturer. Beiersdorf is as important in the adhesive coatings industry (Brand "Tesa") here in Germany as 3M elsewhere. Maybe they have their own testing procedures?

Looks to me like an ideal time to pick up the phone and call the client. Gets you a correct answer, makes him think you care and doesn't cost a lot.
