German term or phrase: Schwefelsäureumschlag - URGENT
Am 11. September 2001 feiert die XYZ GmbH & Co. die Einweihung ihres Erweiterungsprojektes für den Schwefelsäureumschlag.

Ernst says either "sulphuric acid" or "oil of vitriol" for Schwefelsäure. Which one is for petroleum (waste??) products.

I know "Umschlag" is to do with loading and unloading.

Also, further down the press release:
Pro Jahr werden durchschnittlich 150 verschiedene Produkte aus den Sektoren Chemie, Lebensmittel und Mineralöl umgeschlagen.

Based on the following URLs, I would suggest*conversiion* for *Umschlag*, since your text is dealing with waste management.

Conversion of Sulphuric Acid
Concentrated H2SO4 (sulphuric acid) is a highly corrosive liquid that will cause severe chemical burns to skin tissue due
to its dehydrating properties. Inhalation of fumes caused by misting the H2SO4 will cause respiratory and mucous membrane damage, and splashing may cause blindness.
However, the proprietary process used to develop StabitrolTM out of regular sulphuric acid actually removes the toxicity while maintaining all other benefits and characteristics of a strong acid - including a pH of below one. In addition, when StabitrolTM is mixed with water before the addition of certain chemicals (i.e. herbicides) the effectiveness of such chemicals is enhanced, resulting in a reduction of chemical use.

Sulfuric Acid transfer

Explanation:
Sulfuric acid is the more commonly used term in what I have seen. "Umschlag" seems to denote transport in some fashion. I hope this helps.

Sulfuric acid transshipment

Explanation:
You are right :

Sulfuric acid is the chemical name (oil of vitriol is a popular name used for diluted sulfuric acid, that was formerly used in drugstores)

Petroleum and gas transformation industries are producing a lot of sulfuric acid, because it is under that form that the (often very huge amont) of sulfur contained in the petroleum or gas is eliminated. It must then be transported to some other plant for further chemical use (we actually produce to much of it and the applications are limited this is why the industry released it very often in the atmosphere (in vapour form SO2 or SO3 gaz) in the past, causing huge damage because of acid rains (SO2 and SO3 + water gives back sulfurous and sulfuric acids!

"Umschlag" is about the transfer from some transportation mean to another.
Here it could well be from an internal small railway, to an external bigger one to reach a transformation plant.
Howebver, for goods you should better use transshipment, tranfer should be reserved for people transfer (e. g. from a plane to another in an airport).
