certification, certificate of airworthyness Explanation: Although I am not in the aircraft industry, these are probably the terms you are looking for? |

see below Explanation: You need to give a little more context here. The sentence you quoted could mean either the aircraft itself or the pilot's "rating" or certification on that aircraft. |

jein Explanation: Your interpretation of "Musterberechtigung" sounds logical, see http://www.dfs.de/e/-service/nfl/hpt_buro_nfl.htm. If the pilot wanted an F-16 rating he'd probably have to pay for it himself unless the "firm" was the CIA. The only thing that seems funny here is the use of the word "Muster" instead of "Berechtigung" as the short form in the German text. Or does FIRMA have to pay some extra money (aside from the training cost itself) to the local Aeronautics Authority (Federal Minister of Transport) or to the aircraft manufacturer for each type of rating? Where did you get: "I understand that `Musterberechtigung´ is an aircraft type rating, and that to obtain a particular `Musterberechtigung´ the company is willing to finance a pilot's training." Is that from another part of the same text or is that your interpretation of: "Die Kosten der Erhaltung des hier eingetragenen vereinbarten Musters trägt grundsätzlich FIRMA."? I would translate "Die Kosten der Erhaltung des hier eingetragenen vereinbarten Musters trägt grundsätzlich FIRMA." as: "FIRMA will normally pay the cost of obtaining the aircraft type rating stipulated above (below)." By leaving the word "training" out of your translation, you eliminate the problem of "Muster" versus "Berechtigung". Reference: http://www.dfs.de/e/-service/nfl/hpt_buro_nfl.htm |
