German term or phrase:Forschen
"Testen, Forschen, Informieren", das ist der deutsche Ausgangsslogan, der die Initialen des Firmennamens des Auftraggebers enthält.
Diese Initialen müssen bei der englischen Übersetzung in jedem Fall erhalten bleiben.

Hat jemand einen Idee, wie man den Begriff "Forschen" ins Englische übersetzen kann. Dieser Terminus müsste jedoch mit F anfangen (find out passt m.E. nicht gut).
Ich hoffe, jemand hat vielleicht eine zündende Idee?
Hello Katja! I'm glad my comments helped - these kind of questions can be a bit of fun - as well as frustrating! I really wasnt sure tho which is why I didnt post a proper answer - in fact was advising you to turn it into a sentence so good that philgoddard said dont give up ;)

I think 'fieldwork' is a great solution, and 'fact finding' isn't bad either (though I think one word is better than two). Sometimes you have to admit defeat, but i don't think you should here.

Yes, I think you are right. It doesn't make sense to submit to the dictate of these 3 letters. All your proposals are fine, but perhaps I have to pursue a different solution.

I dont think it will work in English - you need just one word to make it sound right, otherwise too awkward... all I can come up with are fact-finding and finetune (furthering, fostering...) I do like fathom but think its a bit too obscure for a slogan - I think it has to be changed into a sentence: We....believe in/stand for... we carry out indepth Tests, research the Facts and provide you with the Information. (TFI in bold or whatever...)
Tests, Facts and Information.... our motto is to test, find the facts and inform...

Good idea to use the verbal form. The term "follow-up" is a good idea, but it is in my opinion, it is too weak to describe the research activities of the institute.
I know, it is quite difficult.

Explanation: "Fieldwork" hat sowohl die Bedeutung von "Forschen" als auch die Idee von "market research" oder Marketing. Ich glaube, es passt ganz gut hier.

Asker: Fieldwork is mostly used in the fields of natural and social sciences. The institute works in the field of process optimisation and product innovation (flooring industry).
