My working translation: "The comfortable fittings are one of the reasons why the time-honoured term "summer retreat" comes fully into its own at [...]. Everything is available from [...] to [...]"

Is it a good idea to replace "Sommerfrische" with "sommer retreat"? Can anyone think of a way to elegantly rewrite this? Many thanks in advance.

Or something like the above....Sommerfrische is such a lovely, unique word that I would try to write it into the text and explain it briefly. FYI, I believe Sommerfrische specifically refers to an extended summer stay in a rural environment as opposed to the other popular mode of 19th century travel, namely cultural travel to cities to view museums and monuments......

Referring to the latest discussion entry related to Wikipedia´s definition of Sommerfrische (by ??? )which, as I just discovered, does not as yet figure in this column, I should like to point out that - though being termed as old fashioned (or obsolete) it continues being widely used as an absolutely up to date word.In any case its old fashioned English counterpart is summer retreat as already pointed out by philipg and myself.

sorry, the same technical problem occurred once more. I´ll try to add what is indispensable: Using time-honoured / online dict. / sthg.like existing for a long time, a long standing word / a word of long standing or of a long history.

Using for words I consider a bit risky. I couldnt find it backed by any of the line dictionaries and as far as I remember, it is primarily used for customs, traditions, institutions and such like. venerable is even less suitable for the present text. I would rather resort to something like

Actually, I was not looking for "komfortable Ausstattung", but for: "Das altehrwürdige Wort Sommerfrische kommt voll zu seinem Recht". But thanks for your remark. "Convenient furnishings" might work better.

I know it's not the question being asked, but komfortabel could do with looking at too - it's often a false friend, and you can hardly have "comfortable" fridges and coffee machines (I agree with philipg about "fittings"). Would make an interesting question in its own right.

die Redewendung < kommt zu seinem Recht > scheint mir hier eher unangebracht. Man will ausdrücken, dass dem Sinn des Wortes < Sommerfrische> hier in jeder Hinsicht Genüge getan wird, indem sich seine Bezeichnung als vollkommen gerechtfertigt erweist. Sommerfrische würde ich mit or summer retreat > übersettzen
